strange brew...

Today at work I noticed a drawer in the KITCHEN labeled PENS/RAZORBLADES/THERMOMETERS. As if this wasn't weird enough, my curiosity lead me to open the drawer. what did I find? Tampons.

What do Feist and nice drivers have in common?

Nothing probably, but here are a couple stories....

Last night I went to the Feist show in Deer Valley which was absolutely amazing. She is just a dainty babe o la rockin' out on a huge guitar. I think maybe everyone there either added to their crush, or developed one on her. Good music, pretty night, fun dancing.

The ride there was a bit adventurous as my car had a "too hot to trot" problem. It decided to stop working half way to Park City. So, we left the car in Parley's canyon and decided to travel by thumb. It actually worked out well. The three of us hitchhiked all the way to the front doors of the Deer Valley lodge and made it to the show with time to spare. Thanks lady. (Nice Driver #1) Not to worry we got a ride back to the car after the show and it started right up.

Earlier today as i was coasting out of Sardine canyon on my way back to Logan town I was a good 15 miles per hour over the speed limit. A girl passed on the other side of the road and flashed her lights tons of times. This is one of my favorite ways of sticking it to the man. It is the one way we as normal drivers can unite against the bacon. I slowed down and in about five seconds I passed a blood thirsty, radar loving cop a zoid. That girl saved me $100.00. No ticket for me. Thanks lady. (Nice Driver #2)

peach please...

These are my nephews...Cole, Luke, and Van. They made over $30.00 in two hours selling snowcones in our front yard. It looks like lemonade has finally found its match, which is sad, but true. This photo was taken about five minutes before Brights (the dog) threw up ON a customer's shoe. We gave that kid a free snowcone and let him use our hose to clean the puke off his foot. Everyone was way grossed out but for some reason I couldn't stop laughing. good girl brights.

There she goes...

My darling sister, Natalie, got married yesterday. She had the ceremony in my parents' backyard. It was one of the funnest weddings I have ever been to. We danced our pants off. I will probably post more pictures later. This is me with my two sisters right before my dad walked her down the aisle. way to go Natty tang.

The old, the bold.

During the summer time the young move from Logan, and the the old flock to Logan. They are called "summer citizens." These oldies come from all over the country to cool off in Cache Valley for a few months. Anyway, Camie and I were put in charge of taking them on outdoor adventures. Of course I got excited about it and came up with a little name for the club....Golden Adventures. We meet each Wednesday for a hike or canoe adventure. I suppose it is just a lucky coincidence that I happen to absolutely love old people. We went up the Green Canyon single track today, which is in its prime from all the rainy days we have had. We walked up a few miles and back. They all seemed to really enjoy the canyon, none of them had been up there before. We are taking them disc golfing next week, which should be fun considering I am the worst disc golfer I have ever met.

Moab, head and all.

Moab Breakfast

Camie Stucki and Me
Headless Mike...they tried to kill this guy to eat.
Somehow he just kept living...I think it had something
to do with his brain stem. They fed him straight down the
esophagus for 18 months until he accidentally choked on something and died.
Fruita's beautiful claim to fame.

Well, I stayed in Logan this summer. So far, totally awesome. The first week I was gone on a training trip for work. We went to Fruita, Colorado which is famous for not only biking, but also a headless chicken named Mike. We also stayed in Moab for a night on floated down the daily for some river love. I had a good time despite the fact that all the guys that were on the trip are married. You don't get no love if your hanging out with married dudes. However, I had fun getting to know everyone better, especially my girl Camie. The end.

brights!

Here she is, my puppy, Brights. She is actually not a puppy at all. She is almost 12 years old. That is 84 in dog world. 84! She still enjoys walks, but not runs. Right now she lives with me in Logan town. I got her shaved for summer. So dang cute and good and nice and old.

onesie for all

This is Van Hackett, the happiest kid I've ever seen. This onesie was a little bit of an experiment. I am trying to make new things to sell at the Farmers' markets. I am still working out a few minor details. If you have any special request let me know. I'll make it, and you can buy it from me. Thanks to Zack and Kim for the cute photos and the cute kid.

P.S. Holly loves Van

Buy Local First, please.

Each Saturday in the summer Logan's local farmers and artists sell their goodies at Pioneer park, which is located at 100 South 200 East in little old Logan town. This year I hope to once again sell hats, aprons, and bags, with a new addition of baby onesies. My booth probably wont be set up until the second half of the summer, as I will be crocheting and sewing until then. It is definitly one of the highlights of Logan's summers for me. I love all the colors, treats, and people. There is usually a local music group playing, dancing is welcome. If you are in Logan you should check it out, if you want. I also included some photos of Seattle's famous farmers' market, one of my favorites. Hope you have a great day!

He knows a lot of one line jokes.
He looks great in flannel.
He can grow a beard like a real man.

Here's to a New Soul...

Well, here comes the glorious spring! Flowers and fresh air, just what I wanted! This woman, Yael Naim, is quite an elegant little lady. I am pretty sure she is French. I am positive she makes colorful and creative music videos. Dainty dance party with those old round string lights, all on the middle of a lake...only complete with an old piano...and a few exciting friends....if only, if only...

Work It Girl...

I started working at the O.R.C. a couple months ago. Too bad i waited until my senior year to get a job here, because I seriously love it! The O.R.C. rents out outdoor equipment and plans fun adventure trips for students. We also manage all of the yurts in Logan and Green Canyon. It is fun working here because all the people that come through are either on their way to a fun adventure, or just getting back, sometimes with an exciting little story to share. We rent skis, bikes, kayaks, canoes, and all kinds of camping gear. Not to mention, when it slows down Jess
and I practice popping wheelies on the mountain bikes, and sometimes have small dance parties. It is nice to enjoy your job.

Look Away, You Rollin' River...

River Yoga
View from Doll House

Captain Natty

Learning to row

Thanks for the music!

Stinky, but cute.

This year for SPRING BREAK a bunch of kids went on a river trip down Cataract Canyon. It was so great to be on the water, outside in the fresh air for five whole days. We were on the Colorado River and paddled from Moab to Lake Powell. I can't believe how much I absolutely love the the river and all it has to offer. We went on a few hikes, ate yummy food, played games a plenty, and brushed up on our yoga skills. Matt and Phil provided live music for all. The canyon provided beauty for all. The groover provided comfort for all. I paddled through a few rapids, providing fright for all. Thanks to Matt Cline for the photos. Enjoy...

Think Green!

Today I had to park at a meter. The only problem, there was no change anywhere in the car. I thought, What am I going to do? I got out of my car to start searching under the floor mats. Just then, out of the corner of my eye, I noticed the last person to park in that spot left a good half hour on the count down clock.
Coincidence: NO
Luck O the Irish: YES
Always happy to be Irish!
Happy St. Patricks Day!

The Next Big One...

I saw this little advertisement at KSM which is the local music shop in Logan. I am pretty sure this is the most motivated 11-14 year old I have ever seen. I know the picture is kinda hard to read. This is a result of the combination of a camera phone, which I borrowed from a friend, and multiple write and erase marks on the paper. This is what they are looking for:
A lead Guitarist, Drummer, and bass all full time. Plus one song writer, part time only please.
Some experience is needed, and you must be between the ages of 11-14, so sorry to all you old-timers out there.

How Red Can You Go?

Hopefully this is the most embarrassing thing that happens to me today....It all started as I was walking out of my last class on a Friday afternoon. I thought to myself, man I would really love a treaty type drink right now. So I wondered into Cafe Ibis, which is this small little coffee shop on campus, and ordered my usual lavender Italian cream soda. The kid behind the counter seemed friendly. As he mixed my drink we started having a fun little conversation. I unzipped my back pack and reached for my wallet to, as normal people do, pay for my purchase. So, maybe I'm not good at keeping track of things. Maybe I never found my wallet. Maybe the kid thought I was trying a very strange new flirting technique. Maybe some of you can imagine how red my face was. Luckily the kid was nice enough to make a few jokes about it...I am pretty sure he could tell how embarrassed I was. I promised to bring the money by on Monday...let's all hope I don't forget.

Time to Shift Gears...

Logan winters can get pretty dang freaking cold. At least this year we got tons of snow to go along with the cold, so we got to go skiing. However, I think it is only fair every now and then to dream about the days of spring. Today I finally got to RIDE MY BIKE to work without having to worry about...
A: spinning out on a patch of ice
B: snowflake vision
C: having to ride in the middle of the road because of the snowbanks
D: getting scooped up by a snowplow
E: my hands freezing directly to the handle bars
F: everyone's favorite..that line of dirty water, mud, snow that splashes up a perfect outer butt crack on your pants.

It took half the amount of time to ride my bike to work than it usually takes to walk. It made me remember just how much I love riding bikes around town, especially Logan town. Right now I actually own three "around town" bikes...all of which probably aren't worth as much change as you could fit in your pocket. However, I can't seem to part with any of them. I keep telling myself maybe this summer I will have enough money to fix them up. For those of you that know me well, we all know I will most likely be in this exact same situation this fall. The whole point of this post is, a friend of a bike is a friend of mine.... unless they are total jerks.

2007/08 Banff Mountain Film Festival International Tour

Last night The Banff Film came through Logan. I work at the ORC now, so I got to help with the raffle and all that stuff, it was fun. The films they showed made me want leave this town, pack up and adventure to the farthest village I could find. There was a Chris Sharma world tour film, a tele across the universe bit, and a few other colorful, creative adventures. Way to go Banff.

Pretty Little Girl...

Maybe you have seen this before. I just couldn't resist....
This is my new itty bitty niece. Her name is Liv. I made her this hat before she was born. Apparently I thought she was going to be the biggest newborn in Hackett history. Hopefully she grows into it before the weather warms up too much. If not, i suppose it makes a fun wig.
